my top six favorite jennifer lawrence outfits

Some are less modest than others, and I have elected to only post my top six absolute favorites (the red dress being on the very tip top of that list) on here. At the same time, I have yet to see her in a completely scandalous outfit, and unlike Miley Cyrus, for instance, doesn't see fit to walk around in Daisy Dukes and shredded tops.

I like how Jennifer has her own, unique look that she pulls off effortlessly. But at the same time, she doesn't go over the top, wearing outrageous clothing just to get attention, or to look "different." Her outfits are feminine, elegant and unique. (She seems to especially favor outfits like the first; a simple maxi dress, sunglasses, a bun and sandals).

Her shoes are quite tasteful too (although a few are what I call 'dangerously' high). I have yet to see her wearing a pair of shoes that I like to call hooker shoes. Sandals, wedges, flats and heels, they all go with her look and compliment it perfectly.

Her hair is always gorgeous too. She changes the styles all the time. Special ones for special appearances, updos, loose, tied back, they all loo gorgeous. None of them are scraggly or over the top, they're all beautiful and elegant. My favorite, of course, is the L.A. Hunger Games Premiere one (bottom far right). Which, by the way, I'm still trying to duplicate (sadly, without satisfactory results so far).

Jennifer Lawrence is probably one of my favorite actresses. She's talented, she's beautiful, she's funny, unassuming, and she has a great sense of style.

I've spent the day alternating between homework, online classes...and polyvore.
I've sort of...rediscovered it.

sigh what am I even doing with my life...

But you know what? The movie comes out tonight, and I'm not going to the premiere. So I need distraction!
Also I'm considering making a THG tag. Because...because I feel like a post about it a lot (ish?) and it doesn't really fall under any category I have other than The Hunger Games. I dunno...what do you think?

Heaven knows I'm no fashion icon, and half the time, I have no idea what the right type of "cut" or "shape" for my body type is. See, I do like fashion, and I do like to look nice, but I also have absolutely no money, and am not overly concerned with what is fashionable. Most of the time, if I'm wearing a nice skirt or pair of pants, and a shirt that I like, I'm happy.

My general go-to out fit is usually a shirt than is loose around the middle (Not baggy, just loose. I'm a bit self-conscious about my weight) one of my favorite skirts, with either leggings or tights. I tend to go with leggings, since I find them more comfortable, even if they do look like I'm going to the gym. I wear tights when I'm going to Mass, usually. If I'm wearing something under my skirt, it's because I want to be able to move around more freely. I know the common suggestion for this would be to just wear pants, but I find my hips look huge in pants, and they're not really that comfortable.

 I'm not really that fashion-adventurous. I wear what I'm comfortable wearing. I wear flats most of the time because I feel like an overly tall abomination in heels. (Not only that, but heels hurt!) I wear loose-ish shirts because I don't want to expose my waist that much. I wear skirts because most pants are just plain uncomfortable. I do wear pants, and I'm not completely against them, but in general, I prefer the feel of a skirt.

Part of this is just laziness. I don't like shopping, and I hate spending money. If I go to any store other than the thrift store, I can only buy one item, and the thrift store in my town doesn't have very many nice things. If I could find a  job, this would probably change. But then I'd want to start saving up for things like a new camera, a plane ticket, a learner's licence, a passport, Photoshop, computer classes, college...and none of these things are cheap.

To be honest, I would like to be able to dress nicer, more polished, more put together. I wish I could look more like I actually paid attention to what was fashionable, and every once in a while splurged on a really nice bag, or pair of shoes. And every now and then I do pick up a real gem at the thrift store, like yesterday I snagged a Calvin Klein pencil skirt (I adore pencil skirts) for $3.

If this sounds almost like I'm defending myself, it is in part because I am. I got a long comment (that I didn't publish because it was posted in the guestbook, and it certainly didn't belong there. Not only that, but it sounded like I knew the person, even though she posted as Anonymous, and I hate when people do that) that was sort of a criticism of my outfit choices. I'm not against helpful suggestions, and I certainly don't resent the comment. But being "subtly" sarcastic about some of my clothing irked me a little bit.

In the end, I wear what I like, and I try to look nice while I'm doing it.

Last Friday I went to a young women's recollection. It was nice, the talk was thought-provoking, and I liked singing carols, and of course, getting to see Angele.

While we were there, one of the ladies told me, out of the blue that I looked like someone out of Little Women. I laughed, and said thank you, since that is a huge compliment. I love Little Women, and funnily enough, had been re-reading it earlier that day.

I asked who, and she said probably Jo, which made me laugh even more, because I've always thought I'm the most like her. Brown hair, bookworm, clumsy, fifteen, talks a bit loudly.


I love Little Women. It's probably my favourite book. Whenever I'm feeling down, I open it up, and am immediately comforted by Marmee's wisdom, Beth's sacrifices, and Jo's scrapes. And it also helps that I have a bit of a crush on Laurie. ;D

I watched the movie, but felt like it didn't really do the book justice. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't fantastic either.

Anyway. I'm off to try and unpack some more of the boxes in my room, and maybe do some Christmas baking. Only two more weeks!

Today we went to morning Mass, so I dressed nicely, but not too nicely. Also, it's cooolllld out now. Snow everywhere, and positively biting! The one plus side is that the hill so close to our new house is ripe for sledding, which I love. 

It's October. Here in Alberta, that means that the weather can never make up it's mind (then again, it does that all year round, excluding winter). So that means, one must dress prepared for warm weather, warm-ish weather, cool-ish weather, cool weather, or cold weather. Right now, we don't have to worry about freezing weather. I dearly hope.

Keeping that in mind, I dressed in layers. The weather broadcast said 10° C, which meant that it could be anywhere from 5, to 10, to 15.


But you probably'd just like to see the outfit now.

On another note, thank you everyone for your prayers. While life hasn't really much improved, I've sort of...toughened up. That is to say, I try my best not to let what's going on hurt me, to focus on the few positives, and keep my chin up. Oh God, Mother Mary, where would I be without you?
I've discovered that I have more strength than I knew I had. I suppose that the Lord is trying to tell me something. And I suppose I haven't been listening very well.

Random One: Right now, I'm lying in my bed, on the computer because I thought my online class was at 10:00, not 10:30.
Why am I in bed? I assure you, there is a good reason for this. I am ill again. It seems that what I thought was maybe just a little dehydration is actually a sore throat and a cold. Bummer.


Random Two: About the Sunday outfit thing...
I meant to post a picture last Sunday. Really, I did. But we were so busy all day, what with getting ready for church, then going to church, and then we went  to a friend's after and didn't get back until late...I didn't have time to take a picture and upload it.
I meant to do it yesterday as well. But then we had to rush off to volunteer at a campaign office, and I was dying a painful death the whole time as I filled out membership forms. (I despise doing memberships. I mean it when I say that I'd rather walk over glass in bare feet than fill out membership forms.)
We got home in the evening, and by then, I was feeling horrid, and it was cold out, but I still planned on doing the photoshoot.
Until I realized that I had either a) left my church clothes at our friends the day before or b) left them in the green suburban, which was locked and my dad wasn't home with the keys.


Anyway. I do have an outfit for you, but it's not the one I wore on Sunday. And it isn't nearly as cute. And it doesn't make me look fat.



Random Three: If my mother doesn't go out and rent X-Men: First Class while she's out today, I will be sorely grieved. I have nothing to do all day but sit and feel sorry for myself, and I'm about five minutes away from the end of Northanger Abbey. That was my distraction, but now it's almost finished, and I spoilt the ending for myself anyway, by watching the end on Youtube. I'd read the book already, but still...
By the way, does anyone else think Mr. Tilney is handsome?

I went to a costume exhibit a little while ago! It was fantastic!

I recognized most of the costumes. There was;

Mrs. Barrie's evening dress from Finding Neverland.


This was one of my favourites. So elegant and lovely!


Also, I just noticed this now. We saw this dress, only it was featured for another movie.


We saw Sherlock Holmes' and Doctor Watson's most commonly worn outfits from the movie Sherlock Holmes.

The Holmes outfit was lacking the hat and leather "fanny pack," and Watson's tweed suit looked decidedly itchy and uncomfortable, as well as sort of goofy.


We saw a lovely green dress worn by Beatrix Potter in Miss Potter. I haven't actually seen that yet, but I really, really want to.

I also liked this one a lot. The sleeves are just gorgeous.


The highlight of the visit, for me anyway, was seeing a Little Dorrit dress!


I knew Clare Foy was small, but I didn't realize how small. When I was in front of the real dress, I saw how tiny she is! Even the bonnet is minuscule!

We saw one of Marianne's dresses from Sense and Sensibility.



I've always loved this bonnet and dress, but I didn't realize how adorable it was until I saw it this afternoon. The long coat/dress is just adorable, and her dress is lovely. I want it. Badly. Actually, I wanted almost all of the dresses there. Heh.


We saw a duplicate of Jack Sparrow's outfit. The original, apparently, had been reduced to mere shreds after all the filming.
