If I die young...

by - September 15, 2011

Bury me in satin,
lay me down on a
bed of roses, sink me in the river
at dawn, send me away with the words of a love song.

Uh oh, uh oh...

Lord, make me a rainbow, I'll shine down on my mother.
She'll know I'm safe with you when she stands under my colors, oh.
Life ain't always what you think it ought to be, no,
it ain't even grey, but she buries her baby.

The sharp knife of a short life,
well, I've had
just enough time.

If I die young, bury me in satin,
lay me down on a
bed of roses, sink me in the river
at dawn, send me away with the words of a love song.

And I'll be wearing white
when I come into your kingdom.
I'm as green as the ring on my finger.
I've never known the love of a man,
but it sure felt nice when he was holding my hand.

There's a boy here in town, says he'll love me forever.
Who would have thought forever could be severed by
The sharp knife of a short life, well,
I've had just enough time.

So put on your best, boys, and I'll wear my pearls.
What I never did is done.

A penny for my thoughts
oh no, I sell 'em for a dollar
They're worth so much more after I'm a goner
And maybe you'll hear the words I been singin'
funny when you're dead how people start listenin'...

If I die young, bury me in satin.
Lay me down on a
bed of roses, sink me in the river
at dawn, send me away with the words of a love song.

Uh oh, the ballad of a dove.
Go with peace and love.
Gather up your tears,
keep 'em in your pocket.
Save 'em for a time when you're really gonna need 'em oh,

The sharp knife of a short life,
well, I've had just enough time.

So put on your best, boys,
and I'll wear my pearls.                                           -- The Band Perry

Ahem. You're probably wondering what brought this on.

Answer: Useless beads + String + Pretty Dress That Hasn't Been Worn In Ages + Long Hair + New Favourite Song + Grey Weather = pictures and song post. Heh.

Basically, I broke a necklace, and couldn't fix it, so I had a glass of unused pink beads sitting on my dresser. Then, I was watching Wives and Daughters, and was wondering how Cynthia got those pearl beads to stay in Molly's hair.
Then I decided that I'd like to try it, so I got some brown thread, and stuck the beads on in random spots, dabbing topcoat on either sides of the bead-hole, to make them stay.
Then I spent fifteen minutes alternately pinning and threading the string into my hair. And they didn't even stay where I put them. They all gathered into the middle of my hair, and stayed there.

After that, I put on some pink and some brown eyeshadow, a teensy bit of mascara, and my favourite old-fashioned dress, and got Brother Number One to take some pictures of me (thanks, by the way, for being so patient with me.)

Also, I just noticed that I look like I'm glaring in the eye picture. Not so. I am simply really really tired. :P

  2. It seriously took me until the third picture of you in your (absolutely gorgeous) dress to realize that these were pictures of you and not ones you simply got off of weheartit. Mm-hmm. That's how beautiful and picturesque they look. Not to mention how very much I love your hair. Mind if we swap? :)
